New Students’ Questions and Answers
Looking to enrol on a course with London College of Professional Studies? Here are some of the most common questions from new students.
What are the benefits of studying with London College of Professional Studies?
Studying with London College of Professional Studies offers a range of benefits for students seeking flexible and career-focused education. The college provides fully online learning, allowing students to study at their own pace from anywhere in the world. This makes it ideal for both full-time learners and working professionals.
Courses are accredited by recognised UK awarding bodies, which means the qualifications are valued by employers and universities. Students also receive dedicated tutor support, including guidance and feedback on assignments throughout their course.
LCPS offers practical, industry-relevant programmes that can help improve employability and provide progression routes to higher education, including university top-up degrees. Overall, LCPS combines flexibility, quality education, and strong academic support to help students achieve their personal and professional goals.
Is there a time limit for the completion of my course?
Your study schedule is flexible, and you can complete your course in as much or as little time as you need within the allowed course duration.
Although our distance learning courses are time flexible, each course still has a completion limit. Please check the individual course page under Course Duration, as this can vary depending on the qualification.
This means you can manage your studies around your personal and professional commitments, but all assignments must be completed within the given timeframe. If you are unable to finish on time, you may need to request an extension or re-enrol, depending on the college policy.
How does tutor support work when studying via distance learning?
When you enrol on your chosen course, you will receive your personal tutor details. Your tutor will support you with questions, explanations, and assignment guidance through email or the learning portal.
If you need help, simply message your tutor through the portal or by email, and they will respond with the support you need. Your tutor will also mark your assignments and give you feedback so you know how to improve.
As LCPS is a distance learning college, tutors do not routinely check in unless you contact them first, so you should reach out whenever you need support.
How do I get my work assessed?
You will send your work to your personal course tutor for marking and feedback. Once you successfully complete the course, you will be awarded your certificate.
Do I have to be based in the UK to enrol with London College of Professional Studies?
No. LCPS teaches learners from all over the world. One of the main benefits of distance learning is the flexibility to study from anywhere.
If you would like more information, please contact us and one of our Education Specialists can assist you by telephone or email.

If you wish to cancel your enrolment, you may be entitled to a refund within the 14-day cooling-off period from the date of purchase. For full details, please refer to our terms and conditions.
How long does it take to receive the qualification certificate?
This depends on the course you complete. For most courses, your qualification certificate will usually take between five and ten weeks to arrive after successful completion.
How long will it take for my tutor to get back to me?
General queries and questions are normally answered within 48 hours during working hours. Marking and detailed feedback on submitted work usually takes between five and seven days.
Are all courses accredited?
Yes. All LCPS courses are accredited by recognised awarding bodies.
What learning resources will I receive?
When you choose to study online, you will receive a welcome email from the admissions team. This includes your student guide, welcome pack, portal login details, and other useful information to help you get started.
How long will it take for my assignments to be marked?
You will usually receive your marked work, along with tutor feedback, within five to seven days of submission.
Will my tutor be available to help with areas I am struggling with?

For Current Students
Current Students’ Questions and Answers
Already enrolled? Here are answers to some of the most common questions from current London College of Professional Studies students.
I have not received my e-learning login details. What should I do?
Your e-learning login details are normally sent by email within four to six hours of your order being processed. If you have not received them, please check your junk or spam folder first, as they can sometimes be filtered there.
If you still cannot find them, please contact us for assistance.
When will I receive my Student ID Card?
You can request your Student ID Card from the Learner Services team by emailing info@lcps.org.uk 14 days after your enrolment. There is a fee of £30.
Once requested, your card usually takes two to three weeks to arrive at your home address. You will also receive an email and a letter confirming your card order.
How do I contact my tutor?
You will receive an email from your course supervisor after enrolment. If you have questions related to assignments or classes, you can contact your tutor directly.
For other issues, such as portal access or assignment submission, please contact the student support team. All relevant contact details will be included in your welcome pack.
- Telephone: 02036320968 and select option 3
- Email: support@lcps.org.uk
How do I submit an assignment?
You can submit assignments through your student portal. If you are studying via online learning, separate instructions on how to submit your work will be available when you log in to your course materials.
It is recommended that you submit one assignment at a time and wait for tutor feedback before moving to the next. This helps you benefit from your tutor’s guidance in future assignments.
Unless agreed by the academic department, you cannot re-submit work for a higher grade once you have passed an assignment. Only referred assignments can be re-marked, and when a referred assignment is completed successfully, it can only receive a Pass grade.
I have failed an assignment. What happens now?
If you do not pass an assignment the first time, your tutor will provide feedback to help you improve and re-take it. We do expect each submission to be your best effort.
Students are allowed a maximum of two attempts. If you still do not pass after that, there is a charge of £50 per unit for further re-assessment.
Can I apply for an extended time limit on my course?
There is a set time limit for tutor support, which can vary by course, although many courses allow up to 18 months. This period includes tutor guidance, assignment marking, and feedback.
If your tutor support expires, tutors are unable to mark your work, even if it was submitted shortly before the deadline. For this reason, you should leave enough time for marking and possible referral feedback before your support ends.
If you submit an assessment within 10 days of your tutor support expiring, it is unlikely that it will be marked before the support period ends.
If it looks like you may not complete your course on time, you can contact Learner Services and request an extension to your tutor support. Extensions are subject to a fee, and the number of extensions available may depend on the course and awarding body.
To apply for an extension, please email support@lcps.org.uk.
